I know, it’s almost two posts in a row about Maaya Sakamoto. But I can’t help it, I’m listening to it, so I have to write about it! And she’s hot and sings well, so why not?

Maaya Sakamoto Maaya Sakamoto

When you speak about Maaya, of course you also refer to Yoko Kanno, the one who composes the tunes. She’s really good at doing pop music. I have to admit I prefer Yoko Kanno’s pop work over my Yuki Kajiura’s one.
Which reminds me I have to write a post about the “Honey & Clover” soundtrack featuring great Yoko Kanno pop songs. But not before I flood that blog with Kajiura work!

Anyway, Maaya did release two single collections. “Hotchpotch” (1999) and “Nicopachi”. Today, we’ll focus on “Nicopachi” (2003) because it’s the only collection worth focusing on.
As I mentioned before, there are not a lot of Maaya Sakamoto albums that retained my attention, but this “Nicopachi” collection is realy great, with lots of catchy lullabies.
Trust me, it’s great, and from the first hearing! I swear you won’t regret it.

1. Daniel: This song reminds me of another song, but I can’t remember which one. Anyone?
Anyway, the beginning is common, but the chorus is absolutely catchy. No one can say the contrary.

2. Toto: Once again a catchy chorus. I’m wondering how Kanno does it! You want to swing your head all along the track.

3. Vector: When you listen to all the intros, it sounds like Pop Song you have already heard over and over. But when you come to the chorus, you are not disappointed at all. It’s awesome.

4. Here: I love that intro. Very uncanny, you know from that debut that something good will unravel. And it lingers… It lingers… until the chorus arrives “Here I am”….

5. Tune the rainbow: It was used as the ending theme for the anime television movie “RahXephon: Pluralitas Concentio” in which Sakamoto also played a character. I love the chorus!! Awesome.

6. Gravity: A sad song to end this playlist. Because we are so sad this post is all over.
