Square 2. After falling in love with the “Mai Hime” soundtracks, I fell even harder in love with the “Mai Otome” soundtracks.
She managed to seduce me thanks to her amazing blend of operatic style, rock, techno and classic.
This is how the Kajiura mania started. After that, I started to watch Noir than Madlax, and listened to both the “Noir” and the “Madlax” soundtracks by Kajiura. So next time I’ll review my fave tracks from those two soundtracks.

OST 1

1. Otome no Komoriuta: One of the main “Mai Otome” themes. It’s a really beautiful song. The chants are sublime. Yuri Kasahara’s voice is really a blessing. I love the traditional Japanese ambiance it conveys. It is really peaceful to listen to it.
You will also find that theme at the end of my playlist as well, but in a more solemn intrumental way. Impressive.

2. Materialise: One of my fave Kajiura song. The infamous “Materialise” song. You can hear and feel the amplitude of Yuri Kasahara’s voice here. It’s really full of strenght and emotion. I’m really fascinated by that song that mixes techno beats with operatic chants. It’s really a “chef d’oeuvre”.

3. Kibou no Miyako, Windbloom: A little break after so much emotions. A little refreshing instrumental. I love the melody, it manages to make me feel so relax and happy everytime I hear it.

4. Shukuteki: Enough rest, let’s have some more action. This is a tune mainly played in the anime when there are fighting action. (Go Shizuru!!)

5. Shimikomu Don (Nibi): Just like the strings here.

6. Rojiura no Tsuiseki: Let’s rock and kick some bad asses. The guitars near the end are great. You have to wait for it! It’s worth it!

OST 2

7. Ikusa Otome ~ Aoi to Kuro no Kyousoukyoku: We’re back with Yuri Kasahara. Magnificent all along.

8. Lilac ~ Utsukushiki Chigiri: Beautiful sad melody. It’s really heartbreaking. How can she achieve to make me feel so miserable with one song.

9. Chiisaki Doukeshi: Beautiful long intro that leads you right to Heaven. Just close your eyes.

10. Hinageshi no Hana no you ni: A sense of traditional Japanese music in this amazing intro before the arrival of more modern beats that give more life to the song.

11. Sei Otome no Inori: The same theme than above, but with even more rhythm. The chants are really beautiful.

12. Zankoku na Mai: Action theme. Love the strings. And at the end, love the guitars!!!

13. Harimegurasareta Kuroi Ito: A totally different style from the playlist selection above. Now it’s the saxophone’s turn to have a solo. Totally uncanny.

14. Zipang: I kept the two different style songs for the end of the playlist. This one is a traditional Japanse instrumental song. I really feel like I’m in a Japanese garden, relaxing. Totally zen. And I keep my eyes shut.

15. Tooki Hi no Komoriuta: Back to the first theme, track number 1 in this playlist. It’s only orchestral, and it’s enough to render the magnificence of the song. Please crank the volume and close your eyes. You will feel the grandeur of it. It really gives me shivers. Oh Yuki!!!!!
