Thumbs up for Japan for their gorgeous Miss Universe. 20 years old, 1m79, dance instructor, Riyo Mori has everything for her and she won the 56th Miss Universe pageant contest!
She is the second Japanese Miss Universe. The first Miss Universe winner from Japan was Akiko Kojima in 1959, 48 years ago.
Along with recognition, Riyo Mori also won a two-year scholarship at the New York Cinema academy, an appartment in NYC will be at her disposal for a whole year. She will also be given a salary plus little extras like a complete wardrobe and a luxury watch.
She intends to open a danse school in Japan, just like her mother, when she’ll give back her crown in 2008.
How is Miss Universe selected?
The top fifteen shortlisted contestants competed in the swimsuit competition, and the top ten competed in evening gown. The final five contestants participated in a final round of on-stage interviews.
