The Tsubasa Chronicle’s “Future Soundscape” soundtracks are one of the best Yuki Kajiura works!
I know I already said that regarding “Mai Hime” “Mai Otome” and “Xenosaga” but it’s also so very true for this anime soundtrack.
Those collections are a pure sound treasure that will make you vibrate and shiver to no end.
I know I only use superlatives when I talk about Yuki Kajiura, but she really deserves no less than praising adjectives. And you will soon agree with me after hearing the playlists below.

Those 4 albums deserve a top place on your cd collection shelf.

I don’t know how to arrange that post, because my fave playlist is once again too long.
After trying to put everything in one same long playlist like I did for the Ayumi Hamasaki post, now I will try putting a playlist per soundtrack. (You tell me what’s best)
But I do want to gather all the “Tsubasa Chronicle” playlists in one same and unique post.

Also I will not put the main vocal songs, as it will be the subject of another post regarding my fave track of the “Tsubasa Chronicle Best vocal collection”

I previously made some references to some “Tsubasa Chronicle” tracks, but I will relist them here below because they are a MUST!

Enough rambling, let’s start with OST 1:

Tsubasa Chronicle: Future Soundscape I (2005)

1. Through the Gate: It’s starts very optimistically before some clouds chime in. It’s a mixture of electro beats with soprano choirs.

2. I talk to the rain: it starts with a quiet intro made of heavenly chants (by Eri Itoh) and discreet instruments, until the arrival of the melodic violins. Typical Kajiuran track with modern arrangements, high-pitched chants and violins.

3. A song of storm and fire: I mentioned that track too many times. Sung by Eri Itoh, it’s what Kajiura does the best, modern arrangements and operatic style chants. The song is captivating right from the start and the choirs are betwitching.

4. Hear our prayer: I love the strings and the dramatic and noble drums.

5. Dewdrops: Beautiful strings track. It’s really emotional.

6. Best years of our lives: Beautiful but sad flute ballad.

7. Witch: Very dark and uncanny intro, with some Indian touch air. Near the end, the electric guitar solo is awesome, like carried away in a trance.

8. Break the sword of Justice: Very epic song, the drums and the violins are a great combination.

9. Black Sword: I love the traditional intro, it’s sublime. After a while it’s blended with the rockier beats and electronic sounds. Then chimes in the saxophone for a more Jazzy input. It’s an incredibly daring style mixture.

Tsubasa Chronicle Future Soundscape II (2005)

1. Endlessly: Sung by Eri Itoh. Beautiful song,

2. Catastrophe: I mentioned that song previously as it is one of my favorite Kajiura work. Beautiful soprano mixed with electronic sounds. The song reaches its apex near the end, the chants are so powerful and dramatic, the strings are so soothing. Excellent track. I don’t know who sings though.

3. Breathess: Sounds like a solemn march. The strings are majestic and it develops to a more rhythmic part with more beats and electronics mingled with the strings.

4. When two powers collide: The first bars send you right away in the heart of the action. The drums give so much depht and drama to the track while the flute gives it some lightness.

5. If you are my love: The instrumental version of the heartbreaking “You are my love” song previously mentioned in a post and that will also feature in the next Tsubasa best vocal collection post. It’s so romantic. I love that track.

6. 1 & 0 City: This second OST features more Jazzy tracks. I gathered all those at the end of this tracklist.
I love the electro arrangements at the beginning of this track. I’m fond of it. Later on in the track, you will hear some Jazzy saxo solos and also piano and violin solos. This track is a melting pot of music styles. Very interesting and original sound.

7. Break it down again: Totally Jazzy track, saxo, piano and guitars follow one another in a amazingly dynamic track.

8. Voices silently sing: Sung by Eri Itoh. Well the beginning of this track with Eri Itoh’s angelic a cappella performance doesn’t really foreshadow the upcoming jazzy saxophone part. They are all harmoniously blended together in the end. Very daring and successful mix.

Tsubasa Chronicle Future Soundscape III (2006)

1. Storm is coming: A shorter and more ethereal version of “a song of storm and fire”.

2. Sacrifice: I love this dramatic choir and piano accompaniment, it really builds the tension.

3. Moebius: Heavenly choirs to begin with, with the hing of electronic sound in the background that forebodes the arrival of a more modern arrangement. It’s indeed a tint of rock tune that chimes in as a background accompaniment.

4. Sleepstream:Unleashed electric guitars and electro beats dancing together.

5. Fireseeker: “A song of storm and fire” theme in a saxo solo, followed by a piano version, and then back to a saxo jazzy jam. Once again I grouped all the jazzy tunes at the end of this playlist.

6. Play the game: Crazy saxo solo with an electro background accompaniment.

7. Sword Breaker: Electric guitars and a jazzy flute, what do you think of that???

Tsubasa Chronicle Future Soundscape IV (2006)

This soundtracks kind of compiles some of the tracks feature on the previous OSTs. But it still has interesting tracks:

1. Optimistic: This song really sounds optimistic. I love the arrangements. It’s really beautiful. Sung by Eri Itoh.

2. Once upon a time there was you and me: I love love love that track. It feels like a long journey, going through different landscapes. The theme sounds a bit Chinese. Sung by Eri Itoh.

3. My dear feather: Eri Itoh again, angel voice followed by an uncanny transition to the unknown. Beautiful track.

4. Requiem for the Evil: Eri Itoh. Very mystic, with some Indian touch then some African drums. Very ethnic.

5. Darkness comes: Indeed, a very dark track. I love the drums.

6. Let go: More action, electro mix with Indian and mystic tints.

7. Aikoi: Sung by FictionJunction Yuuka. Sounds like a Dance remix. Shake your booty. I love the arrangements.

  • I really LOVE the song Synchronicity from the TRC OVA. Do you happen to know the lyrics to the English bits? Or if they’re not English what the phonetics are?

  • Hi! I love all the TRC music, thanks for posting it!!

I was wondering if you know the name of the song that plays near the end of the first OVA, when Syaoran breaks the seal or somewhere around there and plays until just before the ED? If you don’t know, that’s fine, but I was just curious. Thanks! ^^

  • To aimiya: I think the song you’re talking about is “Amrita” by Makino Yui. Look for the lyrics then tell me if I got the right song.
