Eminence is the name of a Symphony Orchestra in Sydney, Australia. It was founded in 2003 by Hiroaki Yura (concertmaster and violinist). Eminence is also accompanied by the Eminence Choir.

Eminence focuses particularly on the music of notable Japanese video games and anime (Final Fantasy, Mononoke, Laputa, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Fruit Basket, Super Mario Bros…)

Eminence wishes to “encourage more people to get out and see live music that they haven’t heard before on the radio. However starting up will not be easy, especially for an organisation that isn’t a purely profit making exercise, so Eminence is constantly looking for sponsors who wish to help them achieve their aims.”

(quote from their website http://www.eminenceoonline.com)

But of course I’m mentioning Eminence in this post just for Yuki Kajiura’s sake, as they played some of Kajiura’s Noir, Tsubasa Chronicle, .Hack//Liminality and Xenosaga (episode II) work.

It’s an unofficial video, so bear with the poor audio quality of it. Eminence playing Kajiura’s “A song of Storm and Fire” (Tsubasa Chronicle):

You will find Kajiura compositions in the following Eminence Live albums or concerts (images of the concert posters):

What’s great about Eminence is that they are highly interactive with their audience as they ask, via their forum, what their fan would like them to perform.

Here is a performance of “One winged Angel” (Final Fantasy), you can hear the Eminence choir:
