Is your memory still fresh from the Yuki Kajiura “Xenosaga” post?
If so, you remember she did the last two OSTs but it was Mitsuda Yasunori who started off the first soundtrack of “Xenosaga episode I: Der Wille zur Macht” video game (2002).

Mitsuda Yasunori is more into video games soundtracks than animes.
So if you want to compare the two styles, here are my fave picks from that first OST.
First track “The Miracle” is AWESOME!!!

1. The Miracle: Almost whispering choirs at the beginning, going crescendo till the apex. It’s sublime, absolutely grandiose!

2. The resurrection: Mystic choir a capella.

3. Song of the Nephilim: Very mystic again. A voice calling from nowhere and it ends up with the choir responding. Very short.

4. Albedo: There is also an “Albedo” track in Yuki Kajiura’s Xenosaga work. Absolutely gorgeous, strained tension. It’s like we’re in the middle of a night lit by the full moon, with wolves calling and other uncanny creatures.

5. Ormus: Voices from the sky.

6. U-Tic Engine:Dark mysterious choirs.

7. Gnosis: Beautiful and powerful orchestra.

8. Prologue: Quiet intro, wait for the action to come! Beautiful instrumental that reaches its final destination with heavenly choirs.

9. Shion ~Emotion~: Piano track, absolutely beautiful and heartbreaking.

10. Kokoro: Sung by Joanne Hogg (Irish singer). Beautiful song with a great celtic influence (that’s one of Mitsuda Yasunori’s particularities).
