Nana is a famous manga by mangaka Ai Yazawa, that started in 2002 and is still running. It was brought to anime in 2006 and two movies were adapted (2005 and 2006).

I never read or watched the Nana manga or anime but I happened to watch one of the Nana movies. But I don’t know if I saw the first movie or the sequel… It sucked so much I didn’t bother to find out. Well I guess I saw the first one since it told about how they the two Nanas met.

Given all those materials listed above, there are therefore many Nana soundtracks. So to make it short, we’ll focus on the latest one, and it happens to be a Best Of called “Nana Best” (2007).

For you to better understand the soundtrack, let me state some basic facts:

1#The two main characters are named Nana.
2#One is Nana Osaki, she is a punk rock singer, leadsinger of a band named BLACK STONES (BLAST) her boyfriend Ren (Bassist) also performs in the same band.
3#The other one is Nana Komatsu a regular girl who met Nana on their way to move to Tokyo. She is called Hachi to avoid any confusions between the two.
4#Ren, Nana’s bf is called upon for a replacement in a famous band named TRAPNEST (TRANES) which leadsinger is Reira.
5#Nana decides to stay in her band BLAST while Ren joins TRAPNEST.

Now that you know the main facts, you will understand why this best of is Rock oriented and also why two singers perform the songs of this soundtrack.

I think I will make two other posts regarding Anna and Olivia so I won’t ramble about their bio and discography here. They are two interesting and talented singer so they deserve their own post.

Enough blabla, let’s rock now, I did alternate Anna and Olivia’s track, and to make it simple my fave songs are all the OPs and EDs of the anime:

1. Rose: (Anna) It’s one of the OP songs of the Anime.

2. Wish: (Olivia) OP songs of the Nana anime.

3. Kuroi Mamida: (Anna) One of the EDs song of the anime. Nice ballad.

4. Starless Night: (Olivia) Ed song of the anime. I love Olivia’s singing effect here. She goes high up. You know I have a thing for sopranos.

5. Lucy: (Anna) If I could inspire someone to write a song it’d be awesome. Anyway, it’s one of the OP songs of the anime. It’s full of rage. Love it!

6. A little pain: (Olivia) ED song.

7. Stand by me: (Anna) ED song. Nice ballad. Anna singing in a sweet way.

8. Winter sleep: (Olivia) ED song. A romantic song. You really wished that someone would hold you right here right now…
