Earth Hour in Hong Kong

Yes, at 8.30 pm during one hour, our apartment in Hong Kong turned pitch dark.
We fled our place to go to some common space named “Mc Donald’s” because we needed to feed as well. It’s not a very good example… but yeah, that’s what we did.
But before that, on the way there, just across our street, we did check iwhether the buildings that we could see from our place did participate this event.

And yes they did. We do care about global warming and climate change.
Well… I was not sure because of the fog that wrapped up the whole Hong Kong yesterday night.
But I wanted to believe in it (and I also read that Hong Kong would participate… but Hong kong being Hong Kong, I beware…)

I can see from where I live the “Batman building”, in central, the IFC building.
And yesterday night I couldn’t see it. So I was happy.

I wanted to go to the Avenue of stars by ferry to see this below, but unfortunately we didnt finish the dinner in time.

More than 1,800 buildings took part in this:

7 hours later, it was Earth hour in Paris. All the monuments did turn off their lights for an hour. Maybe except for the “Arc de triomphe” that was just turned off few minutes for safety reasons. But everything went fine as well, even 200 provinces in France did participate. But all in all, just 1% electricity consumption was saved that hour.

In China, 20 major cities did participate (incl. HK), it is their first participation this year (initiative that started in 2007) and it would be awesome if they could do the same for their emission of carbon…

“be the change you want to see”. Ghandi.
