Ranking number 4, France counts more than 9 million blogs, of which 2,5 million are really active.
Worldwide, there are 40 million active blogs for a total of 150 million according to the Blog Herald Tribune and Technorati in March 2006.
Between January 2004 and January 2006, the number of blogs multiplied by 16, going from 1,6 million to 26,6 million within 2 years (Technorati).
As we speak, those figures might be more than out-of-date. But it pretty much gives you an idea of this social trend.
It is not even a trend, it has become a way of life to share part of your life, your work, opinions or information to the world.
But why do we feel the urge to share it to the face of the world? Is it a form of egocentrism? Or on the contrary, of form of altruism?
I guess every blog has its own purpose. What’s mine? I have to acknowledge that I created this blog out of boredom.
I wanted to fill that boredrom with a “space” where I could express myself as I pleased and share what was important to me, the people I love, the music I listen to.
In fact, further than the music, I wanted to share the feelings those music procured to me. The goosebumps, the well-being, the love, the joy, the sadness, the pride, all those emotions I felt while listening to this music I thought I could transmit it through this blog.
It is only an attempt, but only the fact of writing about it brings me happiness.
So all in all, I guess that my approach results from pure egocentrism. As I aptly know that some posts won’t even be read or listened to nor commented.
It is a one way relationship I bask in. E G O C E N T R I S M.
