If you don’t already Kate Havnevik and Sia, I highly recommend you take a closer look at their discography. Here are two wonderful songs of them that totally caught my attention.

1. Kate Havnevik
The song “New Day” is a 7:30 minute long track that is totally mesmerizing (Melankton album). 7:30 minutes of pure blessful happiness.
The intro is amazing, a mix of instrumental and Björk-like beats (it is certainly due to her tight collaboration with Icelandic artists) and it goes crescendo until we are delightedly blessed by her soft Pop voice (her voice resembles Dido’s).

Go to www.katehavnevik.com to find out more about that Anglo-Norwegian singer.

It is fun to read on her website that Kate Havnevik is friend with lots of Icelandic musicians that I actually listen to like Mum, Sigur Ros, Amiina. I cannot recommend enough of Icelandic artists such as Gus Gus, Emiliana Torrini, and of course, Björk.

2. Sia
In the same line of music, Sia’s “Breathe me”, from the “Colour the small one” album is a real wonder that will find its way into your heart.

3. Stina Nordenstam
Another peculiar nordic voice, Swedish Stina Nordenstam, she’s been around for quite a while, and I discovered her thanks to a Finnish friend some time ago.
Here is “Murder in Maryland Park” from her 1994 album “And then she closede her eyes”. She definitely sets a particular atmosphere. I love the choirs and the instrumental!
