23 Ji No Ongaku (2002). Music for the 23rd Hour.
Once again it’s somptuous, really soothing, beautiful, refreshing. Once again it’s a collaboration with Yoko Kanno’s protégée Maaya Sakamoto. And once again, it is a good reason for me to put nice pics of Maaya… Ok I always put old ones, but I prefer the younger Maaya…
1. Kissing the Christmas Killer: What an odd title. It gives me the creeps, but fortunately the song and Maaya’s performance here just manage to put you in a feather pillow.
2. Trust me: I really love Maaya’s singing performance in this album, it changes from the traditional Jpop singing. I think it’s more sensual… I don’t have the creeps anymore… I have something else more pleasing…
3. A unconditionally spectrum: Superbe arrangements, melody and choirs. You have to hear it. I love the electro beats. It’s a good interlude to switch from the two previous tracks and the next one.
4. Pepper Stretch: It starts slowly, but you wanna shake your body all along. When the chorus chimes in, it’s such a delight! Great melody. Great arrangements.
5. A fruit knife: To finish this wonderful playlist, a softer jazzy piano tune. (Without Maaya)
what a nice melody, it’s make my soul floatin’ and crawlin’ ….
