All my CDs are all packed by now. But there is one double CD left for me to review before I fly to Hong Kong, so I kept it with me. The Velveteen Rabbit. This time, it’s not an OST. I think I ran out of Kajiura OSTs (almost, there is still something that I need to get my hands on).

The Velveteen Rabbit is an audio book narrated by Noriko Ogawa (in Japanese) with music composed by Yuki Kajiura (heart-shape eyes). This audio book was released on 2004.

Maybe your parents put you to sleep with that story of a stuffed rabbit and his quest to become real through the love of his owner. The Velveteen Rabbit or How Toys Become Real is a classic children’s story originally written by Margery Williams. The book was first published in 1922.

Noriko Ogawa narrates this story in CD1 in Japanese. Of course, I don’t understand a thing. So in this post, we’ll focus on CD2, the Fantasy sound track .
Noriko Ogawa is a an actress and Jpop singer that made her debut in 1987.

Here are my fave tracks from this double CD, I can only encourage you to get that CD, the tracks are absolutely wonderful, so soothing, it really takes you to dreamland.

1. Chiisana Inori: It’s the first song of the audio book. The intro song. Beautiful. Choir sung by Fion.

2. Velvet no Inori: Perfect music for a children story, it’s joyful and fairy, especially when the chorus chimes in.

3. Hontou no mono ~ Mori no Naka e: Piano, violin and flute. It’s gorgeous but a tad bit sad.

4. Fuyu Okurimono: Another version of this theme. Can’t get enough of it…

5. Yoru Ohanashi: Piano and chimes or xylophone. It’s so light, I feel like floating in a happy imaginary world.

6. Hajimete no Tomodachi: Sad short piano solo.

7. Haru no Ibuki: Guitar solo. Quite sad too.

8. Natsu no Hajime: Beautiful short piano solo.

9. Surerareta Kanashimi: Beautiful but sad violin.

  • Heard her play live in concert for the first time last night in Durban South Africa. Delightful gracious and talented performer. Esoecially she played Riverrun by Toru Takemitsu - what a beautiful and interesting composition!
