This is my vision vision of Escaflowne. One of Yoko Kanno’s best work. 5 Soundtracks (4 anime and 1 movie, Girl in Gaia) from 1996 to 2000. Here are my favorite tracks. I selected tracks from 3 OST out of the 5.

As always, you will find some songs sung by Yoko Kanno’s protégée, Maaya Sakamoto.
No matter how beautiful her work is, Yuki Kajiura is still my favorite. I must have fallen hard for her. Because Yoko Kanno’s work is impressive in quality and diversity.

OST 1

1. Dance of curse: Impressive. You get caught into it. It reminds me of Kenji Kawai’s Avalon OST. (Object of previous post)

2. Angel: The title perfectly describes the song.

OST 3

3. Blaze: The intro is slow, but bear with it, when it bursts, you will be sent to Heaven.

4. Again: One of the themes. It’s really soothing. I selected it for the melody line. It’s like a fairy tale.

OST Girl in Gaia, the movie

5. Take my hands: The beginning is just breathtaking. I love it, short but so intense.

6. Yubiwa: “the Ring”, sung by Maaya Sakamoto, lyrics by Yuuho Iwasoto. Beautiful melody. Very catchy.

7. Sora: Sung by Shanti Snyder. She also sung along with Maaya the English version of Yubiwa in the same soundtrack. (”You’re not alone”)

8. Call your name: Sung by Maaya Sakamoto.
