I can’t get enough of Kajiura. I’m still under the charm of her music even after listening to it over and over.
Just know that I will run out of Kajiura posts soon.
The “Aquarian Age, Sign of Evolution” soundtrack is the last great one in the list. There are still more soundtracks, but it is not as good as what I posted online so far. But I will mention them eventually, because we need some Kajiura in the blog.
And if I run out of soundtracks, then I will have to review some of her See Saw work or the music she did for Saeko Chiba although I’m not very fond of those older work.
Anyway, for the time being, here is my fave tracks from the “Aquarian Age, Sign of Evolution” soundtrack 1 (2002). I am aware that I put 13 of the 23 songs of that soundtrack… But I couln’t help it… Please don’t sue me if any official people happen to drop by.
I didn’t see the Aquarian Age anime… So I won’t ramble about it. (Good for you)
I’m starting with the instrumental tracks and ending with the vocal ones. The first tracks are piano solos. They are so beautiful I couldn’t resist starting with those, the rest are rather mystic songs. Check the very last song.
1. Just You: I love that piano solo. When I close my eyes, I feel the unawareness of summer time, I feel the breeze caressing the curtains and discreetly sneaking in.
2. Tears: I love that piano solo too. It’s heartbreaking, I feel like crying whenever I listen to it. How can few notes make your heart clunch?
3. Irritation Silence: Another version of Tears. This time, with modern arrangements. I love that theme.
4. Deformation: Piano solo with an futuristic and uncanny accompaniment. I just love it.
5. Sounding Board: I totally love the atmosphere that track conveys. It’s so relaxing in this muffled ambiance. It’s a total contrast with the following track.
6. Eraser: I love the roar of the guitars at the beginning of the track.
7. Dimly Crisis: Back to a darker, uncanny atmosphere.
8. Arayashiki: I’ve been desperately looking for the name of those “Japanese little bells” you can hear all along this track. If anyone knows, please drop a comment! I love this track, it’s again a mysterious atmosphere.
9.Transnigration of the age: Mystic and religious. This instrumental is beautiful.
10. Awake: Now it’s time for the tracks with vocals or choirs. Song sung by Kaori Nishina with a tribal touch.
11. Zodiacal Sign: Modern beats mixed with tribal chants, like an incantation, very betwitching. Sung by Kaori Nishina. We can find those two songs “Awakening” (Awake) and “Zodiacal Sign” in the Kajiura FictionJunction album entitled “Fiction”.
12. Conflict for break: Sung by Kaori Nishina, once again very betwitching in Kajiura’s imaginary language. I find it very tribal.
13. Unseen ties ~ Everlasting Love: The opening theme of the “Aquarian Age” anime. Composed by Kajiura and Kazuhiro Hara and sung in English by SeYUN. It’s totally not Yuki Kajiura’s style. It reminds me of the same cheesy style song “Maybe Tomorrow” sung by Emily Curtis. But it’s still nice, I’m not complaining. It changes from the piano and violin recurrences. Maybe because both Kajiura and Kazuhiro did the arrangement.
